Merry Christmas, everyone! This is DK Dynamite, and I hope you’re having a safe and exciting holiday if you’re celebrating. Tonight, I want to talk about how Black Ops 7 is set to kick off the new year in 2026 with some exciting updates across multiplayer, War Zone, and Zombies.
First off, I couldn’t make this video without showing some gameplay from Sledgejack. I tried to find the Holiday Havoc map, which seems to be the rarest map in that playlist—maybe it’s just bad RNG, but I finally managed to get a match. Even though it crashed, I ran it back to give you some festive gameplay in the background.
Interestingly, the new Message of the Day references Christmas noobs:
"It’s that time of the year when plenty of new players join the online ranks for the first time. Hit the firing range to get up to speed, and before you know it, you’ll be a noob no more."
This is reminiscent of the original Christmas message in Black Ops 2. With open matchmaking making a return similar to Black Ops 4, new players now have the chance to face off against “Christmas noobs” in multiplayer.
Multiplayer Updates
In the new year, we can expect a large batch of bundles releasing throughout January, leading up to the end of Season 1 in early February. One notable absence is the classic David Mason outfit, which will likely be released later with the Reloaded patch during the second half of Season 1. We’re tracking all bundles over at the Detonated stockpile.
A key topic in the community is ranked play for both multiplayer and War Zone. Rank play is set to arrive in February, later than usual, likely to ensure Ricochet anti-cheat is in its strongest position. With ranked play launching then, players can expect free rewards like camos, blueprints, calling cards, emblems, and possibly operator skins. Considering the improved progression system in Black Ops 7, these rewards may be the best Treyarch has released to date.
Call of Duty on Nintendo Switch
An exciting report for early 2026 is that the first Call of Duty on Nintendo Switch is nearing completion, though it’s unclear which title it will be. Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision included a 10-year agreement to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo. If this is Black Ops 7, it will likely be released on the Switch 2, with crossplay functionality integrated—but details remain unclear.
Zombies Updates
Zombies fans have plenty to look forward to. DLC 2 is expected to release alongside Season 2 in February, reimagining Alpha Omega. Widow’s Wine will have a new perk machine, potentially introducing a brand-new perk. Legacy weapons from Black Ops 6 are rumored to return, along with new limited-time modes (LTMs) linked to the Fallout collaboration. The 115 Day celebration will also bring big events, following last year’s exciting festivities.
Maps and Weapons
Maps and weapons from Black Ops 1, 2, and 4 are confirmed to appear in Black Ops 7. Out-of-bounds exploration has already revealed maps like Gridlock (from BO4) and Vertical (from BO2). The new Sole 545 LMG can be upgraded to the 48 Dredge using its prestige attachment. Upcoming DLC weapons and faceoff maps will likely continue to keep players engaged throughout 2026.
War Zone Updates
War Zone is set for a major revamp in 2026. Expect a festive version of Rebirth in February and a rotation including Fortune’s Keep, redesigned for the new Omni Movement. Season 1 Reloaded will introduce a new win streak camo system, similar to Modern Warfare 3, rewarding players with exclusive animated camos for completing challenges. Plunder mode, referenced previously, may also return during this update.
The new year is shaping up to be a huge one for Black Ops 7 and War Zone. From multiplayer bundles and ranked play to Zombies updates and Nintendo Switch ports, there’s a lot to be excited about. With Reloaded dropping on January 8 and Season 2 kicking off in February, the first quarter of 2026 promises to keep players busy and entertained.
